Join Us for a Day

All academic quiz bowl tournaments are supported by a team of volunteers.

Reader/Moderator-A reader/moderator is the key volunteer for a tournament. This individual reads questions and accepts answers from teams. They enforce the rules of play and verify scoring. 

Scorekeeper-A scorekeeper uses a computer to keep score and individual student responses data during the tournament. A scorekeeper works with a reader/moderator to record accurate information. 

  • Time commitment

    • Volunteer opportunities six times a year 

    • All tournaments are on Saturdays

    • 5-7 hours

  • Requirements

    • Reader/Moderator Requirements

      • Should be comfortable with reading out loud to students and any audience members

      • If a volunteer was a former quiz bowl participant they must not have participated on a local high school team for two years after high school graduation

    • Scorekeeper Requirements

      • Must have access to a laptop and be comfortable with inputting information in a spreadsheet
